New Bitkom study on digitalization in medicine
The latest survey carried out by the digital association Bitkom shows that the majority of Germans have a positive opinion of the digital transformation in the healthcare sector. As a result, 89% of participants are in a positive mindset towards a digitalized healthcare system. The survey also investigated how the population thinks about current developments that are driving digitalization forward. The result: trust in e-prescriptions, video consultations, health apps and the electronic patient record (ePA) has increased.
The survey from May/June 2024 shows that 71 % of Germans agree with speeding up the implementation of digital healthcare solutions. Similarly, 83 % consider their doctors to have a positive attitude towards these technologies. Rising from 60 % in 2022 to 74 % in 2023 and 84 % this summer, participants think that digitalization in the healthcare sector is a chance. Vice President Christina Raab comments on the latest results: “The digitalization of the healthcare system has made great progress in recent years, and this is recognized and appreciated by people.”
